The manufacturing of notebooks and school stationery requires carefully selected raw materials to ensure durability, writing comfort, and long-lasting performance. For internal pages, white writing printing paper, commonly known as maplitho paper, is widely used. This paper is wood-free, offering a smooth writing surface and excellent ink absorption. The standard GSM range for school notebooks is 54 to 70 GSM, while 80 to 100 GSM is preferred for premium notebooks and journals.

For the covers, manufacturers use different materials based on product type. Soft covers are typically made from duplex board or coated art paper ranging between 200 to 300 GSM, providing flexibility with strength. Hard covers use grey board pasted with printed paper or PU leather for a premium finish.

Essential consumables include galvanized stitching wire for stapling, water-based or oil-based printing inks for ruling lines, and adhesives such as cold glue or hot-melt glue for binding. Metal or PVC spiral coils are also used for spiral-bound notebooks.
